Race distances are measured in meters.

To reflect this, horses are grouped into eight distance categories:

Category 1: 990    Category 2: 1365

Category 3: 1400    Category 4: 1450

Category 5: 1500    Category 6: 1600

Category 7: 1650    Category 8: 1850

A horse may belong to more than one category, depending on its past performance across different distances.

Each horse is classified into the category where it performs best.

On average, horses running within their preferred category win 87% of the time.
